How To Find The Right Softball Bat

This is one of the most prevalent questions many softball players ask themselves before purchasing a softball bat. They want to know which one is the right for them, which one fits their style more and which one is the best….suit…for their wallet.

Often times, finding the right bat is also directly tied into each individual’s style of play. For instance, power hitters would be more likely to purchase bats such as the DeMarini Juggernaut which is known to add a couple of feet to your average batted ball’s distance.

But if one is a more lighter hitter and focuses more on contact and ball placement, then we’d more likely to go with lighter bats such as the Freak 12 or the MAKO bats which are all fantastic light bats for the contact hitter.

The Vendetta is another one of those bats for softball that is great for top of the line-up type hitters. But with that said, let’s go into some tips that you should always keep in mind when looking to purchase a softball bat that is right for you.

Bat Length / Weight Difference

Today we’re going to break down the best BBCOR bats for 2016.

So for today’s review we’re going to be mainly talking about 5 bats.

The Easton MAKO, the DeMarini CF8, the Marucci Cat 6, the DeMarini Voodoo Raw, and the Louisville Slugger Prime 915.

So let’s get started.

The Easton MAKO BBCOR Bat is arguably the most popular by a landslide out of all of them.

The Easton MAKO comes in 4 different shapes. There’s the end-loaded version, the balanced version, the Mako TORQ XL version and the balanced Mako TORQ version. So, right off the bat we have a lot to play with here. It’s easy to see why they’re by far the most popular bat out of all of them. They just have a product for every contact hitter.

The Easton MAKO comes easily equipped in 2 pieces so it’s not a full 2-piece composite bat and it comes ready to use right off the bat. There’s no breaking in to do, or at least very little.

The DeMarini CF8 continues to be a strong presence in the market and unlike Easton, DeMarini doesn’t like to make too many bats of the same series and it instead designates a different bat name for different purposes.

It comes with a Fusion 2.0 handle which reduces the sting when a ball isn’t hit properly and also allows the hitter to have better control and facilitates contact through the hitting zone. Perfect bat for people who are at the top of the line-up and looking to increase their power numbers by even just a slight amount.

The Marucci Cat 6 is one of those bats that whenever they come out you just know they’re here to stay. The reason being is that it’s a great overall bat and it suits every single baseball player. It’s the journeyman’s dream.

It’s very well balanced and comfortable. It feels light and allows the hitter to exert greater control over their bat speed and bat control through the hitting zone.

As such, this is absolutely one of the premiere bats coming into 2016. It should be noted that this is going to be a huge year in terms of BBCOR bats. It’s been a couple of years now since their inception into collegiate baseball and there’s been a lot of feedback for what works and what doesn’t. So do expect to see some major improvements in bat performance.
